You cannot know the power of the dark side.

Blue Moon Fiber Arts Laci colorway Corvid.
It will be this.
It just goes to show you that the old "never say never" adage is true. I am not a fan of the faroese shawl, never was. It was kind of klunky looking, and the patterns out there were nothing that grabbed me. There was an ok one now and then, but I wouldn't have called any of them beautiful. So I pretty much wrote them off, and stowed the whole thing in that part of my mind reserved for scrapbooking and webkinz and entrelac socks, the brain equivalent of file 13.
Then came Anne Hanson, whose incredible design not only turned me to mush, but had me chiming in with her daily mass of comments and blithering on endlessly about how much I loved, wanted and needed this shawl. And when Miss Vanity here throws that much pride out the window and starts with the hem kissing, it's all over.
The pattern came out yesterday. Faroese shawls have been granted a reprieve. I am no longer remotely concerned with becoming a knitter or a Knitter. I've gone from zero to Jedi and straight over to the Dark Side.
And they really do have cookies over here.

I know exactly what you mean. That shawl is calling my name, and I don't *do* shawls. Gorgeous colorway too! I got Korpii and I love it!

You know, I have to say that I haven't been that crazy about a lot of the Knitspot designs. (I'm sure it's a personal failing.) Mostly I just thought they weren't lacy enough. I like my lace kinda of light and ethereal, and hers are denser and (to my mind) don't show the lace patterning well.

But I've bought two of her patterns in the past two days. One was this shawl; the other was the Snow on Cedars mitts. So maybe I'm being won over...

Please forgive the random replying. I don't have your email. I've been thinking about Bag Licking Cats and I think it gets them high. Maya is impossible to deter and will lick the color off of mylar wrapping paper if given the chance. Wanna guess how I found that out?

Also, are your size 4 needles a different type or brand? It's been a long standing fact with me that straight needles make my hands hurt more than circs. I noticed today that my hands get sore faster on my inflexible el cheapo circs than on my more flexible name-brand circs. At any rate, I feel your pain. Literally.

Oh boy! That yarn is something else! I also ordered the pattern in the Thraven colorway.

Can you just wait to see my fleeglization of it? What a word! Hope your mouthful of coke didn't spray on anything important--cats, knitting, chickens, husband...
